Come Help Us Impact 120 Local Lives at UNCC's Allied Health Club on January 31!
The Community Blood Center of the Carolinas (CBCC) is teaming up with UNCC’s Allied Health Club to host a community blood drive on Tuesday, Jan. 31, 2012 from 10:00am-4:00pm at the Lucas Room in the Cone Building at UNCC. Allied Health Club wants to impact 120 patients’ lives and collect over 240 pounds of food for Second Harvest Food Bank, by having 40 donors roll up their sleeves for local patients!
The purpose of Allied Health Club (AHC) is to educate and bring together students that are interested in entering any profession in the medical field. This local organization of undergraduate students supports their community once a month by providing public health volunteer opportunities to their members and community.
As the primary blood supplier to the region, CBCC provides nearly 400 blood products every day to help patients being treated in area hospitals. Cancer patients are primary and frequent patients in need of blood and blood products; approximately 16% of red blood cells and 26% of platelets transfused in our region.
If you are in the UNCC community on January 31; please stop by to show your support for our community hospitals; just one blood donation can save up to 3 local lives!
